Description
Talisker’s 2025 special release—christened Molten Seas—ventures into bold new territory. After standard aging in ex‑bourbon barrels, the whisky is finished in new American oak casks toasted using volcanic rocks from Skye, imparting an elemental, smoky‑char influence that complements Talisker’s signature maritime character. Bottled at cask strength (53.9 % ABV) and non‑chill filtered, this expression fuses sea spray, fire, and coastal ruggedness into a spirited dram.

Tasting Notes

Appearance
Warm amber with a subtle burnished glow

Aroma
A surge of ocean spray and brine leads the nose, giving way to bonfire ash, charred oak, and soot. Beneath the smoke, notes of cracked black pepper, liquorice root, and roasted hazelnut emerge, while hints of citrus peel and seaweed drift in the background.

Palate
Bold and oily, the palate is wrapped in maritime smoke, salted caramel, charred oak, and peppery spice. Grilled tropical fruit—think pineapple or mango—blends with roasted nuts and a savory undercurrent of seaweed and smoked shellfish.

Finish
Long, warming, and persistent. The tail features ember smoke, cracked peppercorn, lingering brine, and an earthy volcanic char that tapers into a salty echo.
