Perdomo Legacy Father & Son Maduro Gran Figurado
Brand: Perdomo
Origin: Nicaragua
Wrapper: Nicaraguan Maduro
Binder: Nicaraguan Shade-Grown Habano/Cameroon Hybrid
Filler: Nicaraguan tobaccos from Condega, Estelí & Jalapa
Size & Shape: 6 x 48/60/52, Soft Box-Pressed Gran Figurado
Strength: Medium to Full
Flavor Profile
First Third: The Legacy Father & Son Maduro opens with espresso, black pepper, oak, earth, and bread-like toast, with touches of sweetness beginning to emerge. The narrow opening section of the Gran Figurado concentrates the blend before the cigar gradually expands toward its 60-ring center.
Mid-Smoke: As the cigar reaches its broader section, cocoa nibs and roasted nuts become more prominent alongside oak, coffee, creamy leather, baking spice, and caramel-like sweetness. The changing ring gauge increases the amount of filler tobacco in the blend and gives the aged Nicaraguan core a larger role in the middle of the smoke.
Final Third: Cocoa, roasted nuts, oak, earth, and warm spice continue as the cigar tapers toward its 52-ring finish. Black pepper remains present while creamy chocolate and darker roasted flavors provide contrast, creating a richer conclusion without abandoning the blend's underlying sweetness.
Construction & Burn
The Father & Son is rolled in a distinctive 6 x 48/60/52 Gran Figurado created specifically for this project. Its soft box press and changing diameter deliberately alter the tobacco proportions as the cigar progresses, moving from a narrower opening to a broad 60-ring center before tapering to 52. Perdomo has explained that wooden molds were chosen for the oily tobaccos used in the cigar. In an exact-vitola review, the draw was consistently described as excellent with above-average smoke production, although the samples required occasional minor burn corrections.
Story & Accolades
Perdomo Legacy Father & Son is a 2026 collaboration between Nick Perdomo Jr. and his son, Nicholas Perdomo III, built around small lots of extensively aged tobacco from the family's Nicaraguan farms. Nicholas Perdomo III blended the Maduro expression, pairing a Nicaraguan Maduro wrapper with a proprietary Nicaraguan Shade-Grown binder developed from Habano and Cameroon seed genetics. The fillers come from Perdomo farms in Condega, Estelí, and Jalapa and were harvested between 2011 and 2016. Because of the limited quantities of these aged tobaccos, Perdomo designed Father & Son as a limited-production release rather than a regular-production line. The Maduro debuted in the unique 6 x 48/60/52 Gran Figurado format and received an 88-point score in a 2026 exact-vitola review by halfwheel.
Pairing Suggestions
- Beer: Imperial stout, robust porter, Belgian dubbel, or a malt-forward brown ale can complement the cigar's espresso, cocoa, roasted nuts, and caramel-like sweetness.
- Wine: Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, or a mature Rioja can stand alongside the Maduro's earth, oak, dark cocoa, and spice.
- Spirits: Bourbon is a natural match for the cigar's oak, caramel, and roasted profile, while a sherried Scotch or aged rum can complement its cocoa, nuts, coffee, and underlying sweetness.
Overall Impression
Perdomo Legacy Father & Son Maduro is a medium-to-full-bodied Nicaraguan Gran Figurado that combines a personal father-and-son story with an unusually engineered 6 x 48/60/52 soft box-pressed format. Nicholas Perdomo III's Maduro blend layers an aged Nicaraguan wrapper over the family's proprietary Shade-Grown hybrid binder and long-aged fillers from Condega, Estelí, and Jalapa. Expect espresso, cocoa, oak, roasted nuts, earth, leather, black pepper, baking spice, and caramel-like sweetness, with the changing ring gauge allowing the balance and intensity to evolve noticeably from beginning to end.
